Scripture Reference: “Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.” – Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)
The Pareto Principle, also known as the 80/20 Rule, states that 80% of results often come from 20% of efforts. In business, this means that a small portion of actions—whether key clients, strategic decisions, or high-impact tasks—contribute to the majority of success. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us to commit our work to the Lord so that He can establish our plans. Applying the Pareto Principle allows us to focus on what truly matters instead of wasting energy on less effective efforts.
Many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of being busy rather than productive. They spread themselves too thin, working on countless tasks that don’t move the needle forward. However, when we analyze where our greatest impact comes from, we can shift our focus to the work that truly drives success.
Jesus Himself demonstrated this principle. He didn’t try to reach everyone at once but invested deeply in a small group of disciples, who then spread the gospel worldwide. Likewise, in business, we must identify the key actions, clients, or products that bring the most value and prioritize them. By doing so, we honor God with our time, steward our resources wisely, and create lasting impact.
Reflection Questions:
- What tasks or clients in your business contribute the most to your success?
- Are you spending too much time on low-impact activities, and how can you shift your focus?
- How can committing your work to God help you establish better priorities?
